Graviton Lance

Graviton Lance from Destiny 2 replica prop

Functional Prop

Designed and built the Graviton Lance from Destiny 2 using Solidworks, based on the game assets and concept artwork by Aaron de Leon. The prop features a working spring-loaded trigger, light animations, sound, and a detachable clip that holds a rechargeable battery.

Playing with light

The rifle’s aesthetic juxtaposes polished surfaces and crisp glowing edges with chaotic pulses of electricity. Trying to recreate these effects using hobbyist grade supplies required an innovative approach to light diffusion, born from iterative experimentation. This resulted in the development of a light piping technique consisting of casting epoxy inside a 3D printed cavity. The result is a light show with no LED hot spots in a small package.

Hot Spot Reduction

Iterated through various geometries until even light diffusion was achieved. (Final diffusion shown on top, first prototype is bottom)

Designed for Assembly

The Exotic Pulse rifle consists of 57 3D printed components and 196 addressable RGB LEDs. The prop can be disassembled into all its major components for ease of maintenance.

All the components were sanded and primed, and painted with Createx airbrush acrylicis.
